About the project

.

Blockchain technologies can improve research methodology and transparency. In current seafood traceability tools and services, blockchain technologies allow researchers to collect extensive data, making sustainable seafood practices more transparent to consumers. For the EU-funded Sea2See project, the development of a new end-to-end blockchain model and professional and consumer applications will fill existing gaps in seafood traceability. The trust and social acceptance of sustainably fished and farmed seafood products will grow. Sea2See will do this by providing technology solutions that meet the need for data collection along the entire seafood value chain. It will aim to engage stakeholders and consumers in introducing social and sectoral strategies for increased creation, communication and awareness.

Project Objectives

.

Current seafood traceability tools and services have the potential to leverage new blockchain technologies to obtain a wide range of data, making sustainable seafood practices more visible to consumers. The Sea2See project will fill existing gaps in seafood traceability by developing an innovative end-to-end blockchain model and professional and consumer applications to increase the trust and social acceptance of sustainably caught and farmed seafood products. The project will provide technological solutions to address the need for a valuable source of data collected throughout the seafood value chain, verified and covering input from diverse stakeholders. To this end, specific focus will be given to active stakeholder engagement and real consumer empowerment through the implementation of societal and sectoral strategies for co-creation, communication and awareness raising.
